   NEW YORK CITY BALLET 2021 FALL FASHION GALA RAISED 2.5 MILLION AND CELEBRATED BALLET AND FASHION WITH TWO WORLD PREMIERES AND COLLABORATIONS BY:

On September 30, 2021, the New York City Ballet hosted the Ninth Edition of the Fall Fashion Gala, which raised over $2.5 million for the company. The evening featured two world premiere ballets with collaborations by Choreographer SIDRA BELL and Designer CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS and Choreographer ANDREA MILLER and Designer ESTEBAN CORTÁZAR. The Bell premiere included music by NICHOLAS BRITELL, DOSIA MCKAY, and OLIVER DAVIS.  The new Miller piece featured a commissioned score by singer/songwriter LIDO PIMIENTA, who also performed.  The evening also included a performance of Jerome Robbins’ Glass Pieces, choreographed in 1983 and set to a pulsating score by Philip Glass.

The annual Fall Fashion Gala was launched in 2012 with a gala celebration of the legendary designer Valentino.  The gala has since raised more than $20 million for New York City Ballet and has featured costumes designed by the likes of Virgil Abloh of Off-White™, Rosie Assoulin, Thom Browne, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Carolina Herrera, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez, Olivier Theyskens, Dries Van Noten, and more. All the designs are created in house at the New York City Ballet Costume Shop in collaboration with the designers and NYCB’s Director of Costumes Marc Happel.

The Fall Fashion Gala featured champagne by Ruinart, the official champagne of New York City Ballet, wines by Wagner Vineyards, catering courtesy of CxRA, décor courtesy of Raul Avila, and music by Sterling Strings. The event was produced in collaboration with JWP – Josh Wood & Mimi Eayrs. The Gala was generously sponsored by Wells Fargo.
